Buying a car used car can be a hassle, but it doesn’t have to be. If you find the right dealership and know what questions to ask up front, it can be a piece of cake. When I am looking at used car dealerships near me, these are my top five questions that I ask before committing to anything:

1)  How long have you been in business?

This is always the first question that I want answered when I’m looking at used car dealerships near me. I want to work with a dealership that has been around for at least a few years. They’ll have experience, a good inventory, and they will also be more likely to still be around if I need customer service after I buy my car.

2)  Do people recommend you?

When I’m looking at used car dealerships near me, I always ask my friends and family for recommendations. People love to tell you when they’ve had a good (or bad) experience buying a used car. If someone has had a particularly great experience, don’t just ask them for the name of the dealership; ask them for the name of the specific salesperson that helped them.

3)  How big is your selection?

When I’m looking at used cars, I want to have a lot to choose from. I usually have some pretty specific vehicle requirements, and I don’t want to just settle for the only one in their inventory that checks my boxes. I always go to used car dealerships that have a lot of inventory.

4)  How much leeway do you have on price?

I like to know where I stand before I start to negotiate price. Get this question out of the way up front. Some used car dealerships near me advertise no-haggle pricing, meaning that the sticker price is as low as they can go. Other dealerships have quite a wide margin to work within. Even if the sticker price doesn’t have much room to move, there are other add-ons that can be thrown in to make the deal sweeter.

5)  What are your financing options?

If I need to finance my used vehicle, then I like to find out the financing options that the dealership offers. Often, the dealership financing is a better deal than I would find at the bank or from other lenders. People often forget to work the interest costs into the final price of their vehicle purchase. Make sure you consider the costs of financing alongside the actual price of the vehicle. Most used car dealerships near me offer some pretty fair financing options.

When I’m looking for a used car dealership near me, I always start at Motor World. They’ve been around for a while, they’re easy to work with, they have a huge selection (with a great website), their prices are fair, and they have great financing. What more can I ask for? Motor World is always where I start when I’m looking for great used car dealership near me.
